People know you're not messing around when you have a pair of these Chinese Foo (or "Fu") lions guarding your front door. According to Wikipedia, these guardian lions are always created in pairs: a male and a female. How to tell them apart? The male lion has some sort of ball depicted under a paw while the female lion will have a little cub instead.

Sloss Furnace in Birmingham, Alabama, operated from 1882 to 1971. It is purported to be the home of many lost souls who met an unfortunate demise while working under dangerous conditions at the iron furnace over the years. Spotted at my niece's first birthday party, The Very Hungry Caterpillar is about to meet it's end. Here, you possibly see the last known photograph taken of the Caterpillar, still whole and intact, as it is about to reap what it sows. The lesson here is a stark one: you go around being very hungry all the time, you end up being cake to feed the masses in a carnival-like madhouse of violence and frosting.

Salmon and Tuna Nigirizushi. From Wikipedia (since I am lazy, and so are you for not looking it up yourself!):

Nigirizushi (握り寿司, lit. hand-formed sushi) consists of an oblong mound of sushi rice that is pressed between the palms of the hands, usually with a bit of wasabi, and a topping draped over it. Toppings are typically fish such as salmon, tuna or other seafood. Certain toppings are typically bound to the rice with a thin strip of nori, most commonly octopus (tako), freshwater eel (unagi), sea eel (anago), squid (ika), and sweet egg (tamago). When ordered separately, nigiri is generally served in pairs. A sushi set may contain only one piece of each topping.
